2023 Training Tips:Â
1.Get an at home workout going. Most leg exercises are best for burning the most calories and you can combo them up with an arm exercise to give yourself a total body hit.
2. Meditating or stretching sessions are huge when we’re sitting around more. Be sure to stretch your glutes. They attach right at your belt line and can cause low back aches from sitting too long. It’s also a good idea to do a groin stretch. I highly suggest the butterfly. Seated against the wall with feet pulled in and stretching the inner thighs while you hang on to your feet.
3. Potatoes? Night shade, high glycemic and heavy to eat. Make this a year where you swap them out for something healthier like a yam or sweet potato. Your midline and other fat stores will thank you.
4. To get the inflammation down, check up on how much alkaline foods you have in your diet. We run better when we’re not too acidic. Alkaline foods help balance us out.
Almonds, cucumbers, kale, spinach, cayenne pepper, broccoli and citrus fruits (yes, citrus fruits) are some great alkaline options.
5. As a healthy adult, you should be looking to get above 100 minutes of evenly spaced of exercise a week. The recommendations are often higher but that’s a great place to start. Try a few 20 minute sessions if 30 is too much. See how you do. Most of the time, the trick is to have a basic goal and see how you do following it for a month.
Hopefully that helps you start the new year off on your right foot followed by your left foot in a lunging sequence for a set or two!
Cheers,
