Maintaining bone mass is very important as we age.

This issue can affect women especially and can possibly lead to weaker bones, fractures overall weakness and more.

one of the simplest preventative measure a person can take is to do some basic weight training.

We set these programs up for people all the time.

The key to bone mass maintenance

The key to making a bone grow is to take it above MES.

MES stands for Minimum Essential Strain.

MES is typically a load of about 10% of the load that would break a given bone. So let’s say that a bone can handle 100lbs of force before it would fracture. That means you’d need to be lifting more than 10 lbs to make it grow or maintain its general strength.

You weight training program needs to have a few exercise that create this load to make it an effective program for you. If it doesn’t meet these minimum levels, it won’t be giving you the full benefit of maintaining your bone density as you age.

Our trainers can show you a simple program to keep those bones healthy and strong.
