So here’s what I do: I correct a joint movement to help it get back on track. This is a Focus on the overall muscol-skeletal system. We’re not going to do something futile such as dig up one sore spot. The body doesn’t work this way so why treat it in such a manner.
Though this is a new offering, I have been helping my personal training clients for over 15 years with these stretches and mobilizations and it’s at their urging that I am now offering this service.
Soft tissue hip and back pain often arises from nothing more than bad movement patterns. These bad patterns shut off certain muscles forcing others to compensate and when the compensating muscles fail, you get pain!

I most certainly do not know more than your Physiotherapist or Chiro etc. That being said, I was trained by world Decathlon and elite Javelin Throwing Coaches as a top Decathlete, National Level Thrower and eventual world class rotational sport specialist and coach. This knowledge and experience coupled with my Kines Degree gave me a very specific skillset.
Basically, it means I can see when and where your body is compensating. I can quickly tell when one of your hips is hiking or when you’re doing something funny with your golf swing or if you’re sitting lopsided at the computer.
Many people can see your movement dysfunction which is routinely causing the pain and injury in the first place. The problem is that they cannot correct it. The reason I’m having some success with clients is because I was taught movement correction for every event in a Decathlon and then coached all kinds of athletes on how to correct their movements. This was how I developed the insight and skillset to treat your hip and back aches. Chronic Tight Glute on one side (Often on your dominant leg).
Jammed Glute after driving or sitting for longer periods of time.
Stuck or pinching hip flexor that hurts if you dig at the sore spot.
Stuck ribcage on the mid-lateral side. Hurts when you lay on that side.
Wobbly or unstable knee that doesn’t load well when you try to stand on it. Instability without any major injury is a great symptom of this issue.
Back Stretches that don’t relieve your sore spot (may sometimes actually feel worse after).

This is a huge need for hip and back rehab in Vancouver but you may not fully know that you require it. Hip and backs can be very deceptive leaving us wondering why our bodies are aching and upset on one side of the body or angry across one of our knees making us feel unsteady.
These are all mys-functioning movement patterns that need to be corrected. This is very similar to having a slightly off plane golf swing. If you do not correct it, you may find you’re walking funny or sitting in the car with a great deal of pain for a very long time.
Fascia, (our white corrective tissue) can hang on to these bad patterns indefinitely making your lower back or your hip achy and sore. It can even do the same thing to your shoulder. If it is not re-aligned or if you continue a bad pattern, you may find that the pain comes and goes but never really goes away. People will often say, “it never quite feels like it used to” or “my right side is always bad”.
Luckily, Fasica can be released and re-taught to function as it once did. Muscles can be retrained and taught to swing the golf club as they were meant to and in many cases, you are able to return to function. This is where our treatments will focus. We will show you how to re-engage the body and get it moving like it should.
This way when you squat, bend down, sit in the car or sleep on your bad side, your hip, back and shoulder likely won’t constantly light on fire leaving you digging deep in your muscles to find your sore spots.
